YouTip docs
YouTip is a launchpad on Solana for coins dedicated to YouTube channels. The trading fees of a coin are delivered to the channel it names, as Super Thanks.
Automated payouts
Payouts run automatically. Nobody picks who gets paid or when: every step from the claimed fee to the Super Thanks under the creator's video is handled by software. Every payout is sent from our official YouTube channel, @YouTipPad. Super Thanks from any other account are not from YouTip.
YouTube has no public API for buying Super Thanks. The worker therefore uses the YouTube app the same way a viewer does: it opens the creator's newest video in the emulator, taps the Super Thanks icon, completes the purchase and stores a screenshot as the receipt. If a purchase fails, the amount goes back to the creator's balance and is retried at the next run.
Overview
Anyone can launch a coin for a public YouTube channel. The coin trades like any other Solana token on pump.fun. Its creator fee is routed on-chain to the YouTip fee account when the coin is created.
How it works
- Pick a channel. Enter the YouTube handle the coin is dedicated to.
- Launch. The coin is created on pump.fun from your own wallet. Its creator fee is set to the YouTip fee account.
- Claim. Fees are claimed on-chain and booked to the coin they came from. Fees are never pooled across coins.
- Pay out. 80% of the claimed fees is sent to the channel through YouTube. See Delivery.
Delivery
Payouts are sent as Super Thanks on the creator's newest video. A Super Thanks shows up as a highlighted comment under the video, with the amount in a coloured badge.
Super Thanks requires that the channel is in the YouTube Partner Program, is based in a country where the feature is offered, is not set as made for kids, and has the feature turned on. At the time of writing the entry tier of the Partner Program requires 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 watch hours in the last 12 months or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. YouTube sets these rules and can change them.
For creators
A creator does not need to sign up, connect a wallet or claim anything. Payouts arrive like Super Thanks from any other viewer and are paid out by YouTube together with the rest of the channel's earnings.
Being named on a coin does not mean a creator has approved, endorsed or is involved with that coin.
Fees
YouTube keeps its own share of every Super Thanks. According to YouTube, creators receive 70% of the revenue after taxes and app store fees. The amount a creator ends up with is therefore lower than the amount sent.
YouTube limits
YouTube limits how much one account can spend on Super Thanks and its other fan funding features combined. The limit is about 500 USD per day or 2,000 USD per week, depending on country. A balance above the limit is paid out over several days.
Single purchases also have fixed minimum and maximum amounts set by YouTube, so a large payout is split into several purchases.
Transparency
Every payout is listed on the Analytics page with its time, amount, receipt and a link to the video it was sent on. Fee claims are Solana transactions and can be verified on any block explorer.
No affiliation with YouTube
YouTip is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or in any way officially connected to YouTube, Google LLC or any of their subsidiaries or affiliates. YouTube and Super Thanks are trademarks of Google LLC and are used only to describe the service.
YouTip does not have access to any YouTube channel other than its own payout account, does not act on behalf of any creator, and does not represent that any creator supports YouTip or any coin launched on it.
No guarantees
No payouts are guaranteed. YouTip is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. In particular, we do not guarantee that:
- any coin will generate trading fees;
- fees will be claimed, converted or paid out within any time frame, or at all;
- a channel has Super Thanks turned on, or that a creator who has not will ever go live, so a held balance may stay held indefinitely;
- YouTube will continue to allow purchases from the YouTip payout account;
- the service will remain available, uninterrupted or error free.
Payouts may be delayed, reduced by exchange rates and third-party fees, or not delivered if YouTube restricts purchases, a channel is ineligible, or an account is unavailable.
Risks
- Market risk. Coins are highly volatile and can lose all of their value.
- No utility. A coin gives no ownership, rights, revenue share or claim against YouTip or any creator.
- Platform risk. YouTube can change its policies, restrict accounts or remove fan funding features at any time.
- Technical risk. Smart contracts, wallets, networks and third-party services can fail or be exploited.
- Regulatory risk. Laws on digital assets differ by country and can change. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you.
